About Me.
My name is Sydney Rutledge, and I attend Broad College of Business at Michigan State University as a Finance major and IT minor. I began pursuing my degree at twenty-four after working as a hairstylist for five years. I’m a hardworking individual who doesn’t settle for mediocrity. My passion fuels me to become the best version of myself. I strive for challenges that will assist in my growth as an individual.
I come from a big extended family, but my immediate family consists of my mom and younger brother. When I was four months old, I lost my father to a car accident, which resulted in many personal challenges I have encountered throughout my life to overcome my loss. Losing my father, has shaped me into a person who loves with great intensity while never taking anything for granted as I understand how fragile life truly is.

I enjoy exploring nature and getting to know new people who can offer me a new perspective on life. I take pleasure in researching and trading digital assets and stocks. And I especially love studying space and the origins of life. I have a four-legged best friend with who I give my all, and I love to provide her with a fulfilling life full of kisses, walks, and treats.

Education
2021-2023
B.A. Finance with IT minor
Broad College of Business
Michigan State University
While attending Broad, I have developed crucial communication skills and improved my strategic thinking. I’ve learned about financial accounting standards and software applications like Python, Excel, SQL, R, and Tableau, while also being exposed to other key elements of Business and Financial Analytics. Through my education, I have learned I am interested in coding, so I have ambitions to add some computer sciences courses to my schedule.

2020-2021
General Studies
Mott Community College
I started attending Mott right before the covid pandemic began. Although my experience here lacked face-to-face contact, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience while attending virtually. I had many excellent professors who taught me a lot about myself while completing my studies. My philosophy class was especially intriguing to me and assisted in my passion and love for space and the origin of life.

2014-2015
Cosmetology
Mott Community College
I learned how to color, cut, perm, relax, and style hair in cosmetology school. I had to complete 1500 hours of hands-off and hands-on experience before I was eligible to take the Cosmetology State Board Test. I attended classes Monday through Friday for eight hours a day. Overall, I had a great experience in cosmetology school and met life-long acquaintances. I possess a cosmetology license in both Michigan and California.

Impact
I want to have an uplifting impact on others. Life can be challenging, and we can never truly understand what someone is going through. I believe your daily encounters have the power to shift your day. Knowing this, I try to bring positivity to any interaction in hopes that I can radiate positive vibes to others by being kind and polite. I will positively impact the world in the future by continuing to work on my personal growth so that I can give my best self to others. If I'm able to understand my authentic self then I will be able to assist others better and provide empathy to all
Core Values

Curosity
I'm naturally a curious person. I have excellent intuition, which sparks my interest, especially when observing others. I'm also curious about supernatural topics, and I enjoy searching for explanations about anything that doesn't have a definite answer, like, what happens after you die? I'm very fascinated by these complicated topics. Curiosity gives my imagination the ability to roam free.

Growth
I'm always looking for new, mind-shattering ways to understand myself and others better. I spend a lot of time focusing on my personal growth because I've ignored it for the first quarter of my life. Through my experience, I have understood how imperative it is to recognize your emotions and feelings in real-time. Growth, to me, is about investigating who I am at my core so that I can better communicate with others and improve the quality of my life.

Challenge
I need to feel challenged to thrive. Challenge allows me to push myself to become the best version of myself. It motivates me to create new and fulfilling opportunities. My mindset of always wanting to challenge myself has helped me accomplish things I never thought were possible.

Motivation
J.K. Rowling shares her experiences dealing with failure after college. She explains how hitting rock bottom enabled her to build a solid foundation for herself. I find this speech simply beautiful, and I feel many emotions listening to her.

A quote she shared from Greek author Plutarch touched me especially, "What we achieve inwardly will change outer reality."
